Market open for orders

Hi Friends,

This week’s market is now open for orders. We are a bit early today so I can get some field work done.

Along with what is listed here we will again have additional tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers and perhaps more sweet corn on the table this week. Our “Little, Ugly Melons” will be available too. McColley Gardens, Bop & Nana’s Bakery, Kenny Point, Circle S Farms and Carol Houchin (with local honey) will all be joining us this week. Come see us for the best food options in the region.

Blessings,
Bob & Lynnita

Market is Open!

Hi Friends,

Market ordering is enabled for Wednesday’s pick up. Again, we will have tomatoes on the table this week. Our early Red Mountains have proven to be early, but we are still waiting for our fabulous heirlooms to ripen. Melody will be back this week with Bop & Nana’s baked items, Tom McColley will be here with potatoes, Kenny Point always has something delicious and interesting and Circle S Farms will be here with their array of products, too. Hope to see you!

Howdy,

The market is open for ordering for this week’s Wednesday pick ups. We will again have Red Mountain Tomatoes on the table this week. I don’t list these for ordering so that you can pick size, ripeness, etc. when you are here. We should have about 20 pounds on the table and if you would like us to hold some back for you leave a comment for us on your order and let us know about how much you want. The price is $2.75/lb.

Blessings,
Bob & Lynnita

Market Open For Orders

Hi All,

We are now open for orders. In addition to what is listed today, we will have a few pounds of green beans, some tomatoes, and a few eggplant on our table Wednesday. I am unsure of quantities, but give us a note in the “comments” section of your order if you want any of these items and I will try to hold some for you. No guarantees that I will have them, but I will reserve what we do have rather than selling them to the public.

Blessings to you all,
Bob & Lynnita

Hi Friends,

It is a special week for us as we celebrate Lynnita’s 6th decade with all of her kids and grandkids All 14! We have lots of extra picking hands this week, so I am celebrating too.

Lots of good stuff from here this week. Melody will be returning, also Tom McColley and Kenny Point.

We have some large, tender, sweet roasting beets this week that are great wrapped in foil and roasted on the grill. Come see us and stock up for the 4th.

Blessings,
Bob and Lynnita

Happy Father’s Day and West Virginia Day,

We are looking forward to our Wednesday Market this week and are happy that our full market team will be here! Melody Urbanic with her great stuff from Bop and Nana’s Bakery, Tom McColley with new potatoes, lettuce, cucumbers and extras, Kenny Point with some exotic plants; ginger, tumeric, fig trees and maybe some greens, and us.

Summer crops are beginning to ripen and we will be adding a number of items in the next week or two. Hope to see you.

Blessings,
Bob and Lynnita

Tom McColley is coming!

Hi Folks,

Just a quick note to let you know that Tom McColley will be at the market on Wednesday with some spectacular lettuce and fresh, new potatoes. Good stuff!

Blessings,
Bob

Hi Folks,

“Well, that’s farming” Is a statement that we just need to accept from time to time. Friday night’s flash flooding hit us pretty hard here with the highest water we have seen on Hardway Run since 2009. Our infrastructure and gardens near the building are fine, but our upper field took a heavy hit with water flowing through three of our 5 foot by 250 foot beds and washing out most of our green beans and corn. The loss of crop hurts, but the topsoil was washed away too at a depth of more than 10". The crops can be replanted in the majority of the field that was unaffected, but the loss of soil is a resource that cannot be easily replaced. Regardless, we are thankful for what we do have and grateful that we have the capacity to carry on with only minor inconvenience. One of our food security strategies is to plant multiple varieties of crops to protect against disease and pests, and we also plant similar crops in multiple locations, anticipating just such an event. We will still have beans and corn this year.

Blessings,
Bob
