Market open

This week’s market finds us in a brief lull between spring and summer crops and our selection is a little slim, but we still have some good things for you.

After many requests, I convinced Lynnita to do some baking this week to add to our variety for you. Her 10 Multi-grain/seed bread is famous in this area.

Tom McColley, Kenny Point and Melody Urbanic will be here again this week with more of their goodness too! Hope to see you Wednesday.

Blessings,
Bob

Market today

We are getting ready to open the market today for pick-ups and want to remind you all that even if you didn’t place an order this week it may be worth coming by for a look. We have some extra cabbage, cauliflower and kale; Tom McColley will be here with his wonderful Hakurai Turnips, radishes, lettuce, onions and tomato plants; Kenny will be here with some greens; and Melody Urbanic has Chef Tim’s awesome scones and breads.

Hope to see you! 4 to 7 PM at Berea Gardens.
Bob and Lynnita

Market open

Hi Everyone,

The Berea Gardens Farmers Market (online edition) is open!
Please be aware that our market will remain as it has been, at the Berea Gardens location from 4 to 7 PM Wednesdays for the duration of this season….. until at least mid-November. The Calhoun County market opens this Wednesday also at the traditional time of 9 AM to 1 PM inside the park building with Loretta serving her breakfasts and lunches. Vendors there will have produce, soaps, lotions, notions, leatherwork and more. We wish them well this season.

We will continue to operate our drive-through market here, with Tom McColley and Kenny Point’s produce, gourmet specialty bakd goods from Tim and Melody Urbanic with options for other vendors to join us also. We look forward to seeing you.

Blessings,
Bob

I have lived through droughts in the far west, and one of the reasons we decided to settle here is because there is an abundance of water for farming. It would be easy to complain this week, but I will hold y tongue. This is by far preferable to the other extreme!

A new item this week is our Thunderhead Cabbage. This is grown in a high tunnel and is tender and sweet.

Tom, Kenny and Melody will be here again this week and we look forward to seeing you.

Blessings,
Bob and Lynnita

But wait! There's more........

I once again underestimated our harvest of cauliflower and broccoli. If you missed out earlier, you can try again. Ordering will be enabled until 9 AM Wednesday, or until we sell out.

Hi Friends,

I want to thank you all for the wonderful support you have given to us these past few weeks and for your patience in working through the kinks of doing this new style of market.

This week we have some improvement in growing conditions and I am happy to finally get some field work done to insure some decent summer crops.

Along with what is listed here, Tom McColley will be with us again this week, as will Kenny Point.

Melody Urbanic is also bringing more treats from Chef Tim and I am copying her FB post here for those of you that would like to pre-order from her. Blessings to all!

“Taking pre-orders for Tim’s Gourmet Pepperoni Rolls (2.50 each), his Focaccia Bread sheets ($5 each), Sweet Scones (1.50 each) and Eli’s Rustic Round Loaves ($5 each)????
this Wednesday at 4pm at the new Calhoun County Farmers Market!! At Berea Gardens Agricultural Center ( the old Minnora Elementary School). It’s a drive-thru market-no need to get out of your car! I have been concerned for our crop timing for the past month with all of the cool, wet weather we have had. It has been a very challenging spring for getting things planted outdoors. This morning I measured the soil temperature 4" down and it was 47*. It should be 62* by now. This is going to put a sizeable delay on things like cucumbers, summer squash, tomatoes and green beans. Still, we are blessed to have what we do and I hope all of you are enjoying it. We thank you so much for your support.

Blessings,
Bob

More than I thought!

Hi Folks,

I underestimated the amount of Broccoli and Cauliflower we would have available for today’s market, so if it showed as “Sold Out” when you tried to order you can still get some today. The online ordering is closed, but if you come by the market today between 4 and 7, we should have plenty to satisfy your needs. For those that have other items ordered we can easily add these for you when you pick up.

Blessings,
Bob and Lynnita

Market Open

Hi Everyone,

The market is now open for this week’s orders. Remember to get yours in before it closes at 9 AM Tuesday for Wednesday’s pick up.

We have our first round of broccoli and cauliflower to offer this week with lots more on the way. We also have a new variety of red bibb lettuce that we are offering for the first time.

All of our crops are grown without the use of any pesticides and our soils are mineralized with the concept of optimizing human as well as plant nutrition. That’s why our produce just tastes better!

Market is open

This cool, damp April is certainly putting the brakes on the growth and ripening of our high tunnel crops and is making it all but impossible to work ground for the things we want to get planted outside. Still, we have some superb lettuce again this week and with promises of warmer temperatures (at least above freezing) coming, we are hopeful that we can add some more variety in the next week or two.

Broccoli in the high tunnel is starting to form heads and the Culiflower won’t be far behind.

Tom McColley and Kenny Point will join us again this week and I hope to see you all on Wednesday!

Blessings,
Bob
